Student turn Kidnapper:DeltaPoly Student Gets 14 Years Jail Term For Kidnapping

A 22-year-old polytechnic student Ndudi Ogwu will be spending the next 14 years behind bars after a Delta High Court found him guilty of kidnapping and conspiracy.Sentenced along with him is Chukwudi Ifemeni, a businessman.
The court which found the two guilty of kidnapping and conspiracy held that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the duo to 10 years in prison for kidnapping and a further 4 years for conspiracy.

The accused and two others still on the run kidnapped one Mrs Okogu at Ughelli on September 13, 2012 and took her into a forest along Isoko-Patani Road in Delta state the prosecution said.
The victim was rescued the next day by a Joint Task Force (JTF) team who also arrested Ndudi Ogwu at the scene.

During their trial, the convicts denied the charges they had initially confessed to have committed but this wasn't enough to grant them an escape.
