» » Calculus:What Your Teacher Forgot To Tell You

While writing this I was also thinking, isn't this another boring class about  Differentiation and Integration. You might think calculus is boring and not too interesting(you are not alone. everyone thinks so). So what is missing, why is it so hard to understand, this and other questions are things I plan to unravel in this note (and I promise to do that very quickly too).
To make you understand calculus I could start writing all those formula and equations and method of solving but I think that would be a mere a waste of your time and moreover I'm not ready to bore you just like your teacher did. Before you can understand any concept and be good at it you have to know one important thing The basics. What is the basics of calculus, how does dy/dx apply to real life situations?

Basics #1. Prerequisite: I don't care how your syllabus is structured but one thing I do understand is that for you or anybody to truly understand calculus you need to know Basic arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry(trig for short). To fully understand Calculus you need to understand the preceding topics. If you don't, then I'm pretty sorry you will always hate calculus because these are its prerequisites.

Basics #2. Application: one mistake that teachers and student alike keep repeating is lack of knowledge about the application of a topic to real life situations. If it takes you 4 minutes to get something from a supermarket down street but it takes your sibling 15 minutes to get something from the same super market then there is a differences in Speed. That's an application of calculus (the way things change with time).

Basics #3 Category: I guess you probably know this but I'll say it anyway. Differentiation is the opposite of integration. You always do the reverse of what ever you do in each case when solving the opposite. They kind of belong to the calculus family.I guess you could call them Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus(they share the same surname).

I promised not to waste your time so as not to make this another boring calculus class. You should know nothing is too hard for anyone to do. If you are having problems figuring out any topic or subject in school, do one thing, go to its root, go back to its basics.

I know this is a drop in the ocean of calculus, there are other basic things about it. Do you know them? kindly share your knowledge
